About the author

This is the fourth book in Richard Crooks's What Was Football Like... series following his acclaimed books on football in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He wrote the definitive work on the Steel City derby, Wednesday v United: The Sheffield Derby. Taking a keen interest in all things football, he has written for newspapers, magazines and club programmes about the game, as well as appearing on television and national radio. He lives in Hertfordshire.
