PITCH AUTHOR EVENT IN CLEVEDON

Clevedon Town Football Club are bringing the history of the FA Youth Cup to Clevedon this month, when From Kids to Champions author Jonny Brick is the guest at their next Seasider Salon on Tuesday 28th March at The Consti Club in the town centre.

The FA Youth Cup has showcased young talent since 1952, including Sir Matt Busby's legendary 'Babes'. The likes of Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Millwall have lit up the tournament with superstar sides.

The FA Youth Cup star machine famously came to Clevedon Town in December 2018 when their Under 18’s were drawn against Manchester City in the fourth round of the competition, resulting in a crowd of over 1500 at The Hand Stadium.

London-based author Jonny Brick’s detailed history of the competition, published by specialist sport press Pitch Publishing, examines what it takes to turn a talented kid into a champion, with player recollections from the past 70 years, and looking at what our young local football talents can learn from their experience.

Jonny is also the founder of the Football Library, a project that promotes football literature. He published an e-book, A Modern Guide to Modern Football, in 2020. A Watford fan, Jonny has written for publications such as FourFourTwo, Our Football League and Late Tackle, as well as online portals such as My Football Books.

The event starts at 7.30pm and you can reserve your free ticket via Eventbrite by clicking here.
